Mel Brown

DOWNSIDES UP, INSIDES OUT

Mel Brown’s series of paintings explores notions of the body as a conduit for dialogue – individual and collective. A conversation initiated by the physicality of body positioning, acting as a medium for contemplation on perception, temporality and space. Skin operates as a performative surface, a dance of light and temperature, exposure and concealment, tension and release. The works bring to attention the intricacies and complexities of human connection. A reflection on the delicate balance of life and ways of being in the world and with each other.
